It’s Volunteers’ Week and we’re celebrating some of the amazing volunteers in East Suffolk.

Lynne volunteers with Citizens Advice East Suffolk: “After a career in communications and design, I have been volunteering as a General Advisor at East Suffolk Citizens Advice for over 3 years. It sounds daunting, but you begin with a very comprehensive training programme and a great deal of handholding until you’re ready to deal directly with clients.

“You get a thorough grounding across a range of nationwide issues including housing, benefits, debt, work, family and consumer. It’s a great way to get involved in your local community and it feels like you’re making a real difference.

“The support you get from the team here is fantastic, there’s a huge amount of different expertise and experience across the organisation, so you always feel that you can offer the right advice to help clients with a wide range of issues.

“I’d really recommend it. You have to exercise your brain to understand some of the complex issues our clients have to deal with, and you also get to work with great people who make the whole thing fun and enjoyable as well as worthwhile.”
